Markel Annual Meeting 2026 – Markel Reunion 2026
May 19 @ 08:00 – May 20 @ 17:00
The Markel Annual Meeting 2026—officially called the Markel Reunion 2026—takes place on May 19–20, 2026, at the University of Richmond Robins Center in Richmond, Virginia.
If you’ve never been, this is not a typical shareholder meeting. Markel has built something genuinely different over the years — part business forum, part community gathering, part outdoor celebration. CEO Tom Gayner put it plainly: it’s not something you can experience on Zoom. I agree with that.
What is the agenda of the Markel Annual Meeting 2026?
The 2026 Reunion spans two days and four distinct parts:
Tuesday, May 19
- Crawl, Walk & Run (7:00–8:30 a.m.) — A 2-mile walk or 4-mile run along the James River. $10 gets you coffee, donuts, and a t-shirt. A solid way to start the week.
- Events Around the Event (9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.) — Satellite sessions at The Westin Richmond, running alongside the main program.
Wednesday, May 20
- The Forum (8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.) — Morning panels featuring Markel Group leaders discussing the business. Capped at the first 900 registrants, so sign up early if this is your priority. A $5 lunch is available for Forum attendees at Heilman Dining Center.
- The Meeting (2:00–4:00 p.m.) — The formal shareholder meeting in the Robins Center Arena. Leadership takes questions from the audience. They say they want the hard questions — and in my experience, they mean it.
- The Reception (4:00 p.m. onward) — The celebration wraps up on the University of Richmond Football Field with live music, food trucks, and refreshments.
How can I register for the Markel Annual Meeting 2026?
Registration is open at Markel’s official site. The event is free — you don’t need to be a shareholder to attend.
You can register friends and guests separately. No attendance cap on the main event, but the Forum is limited to 900 people, so don’t wait on that one.
Which additional events can I join?
We host events with our Plus investing community during annual meeting season. If you want to connect with serious long-term investors in a smaller setting, have a look:
